1963 Lancia Flaminia 2.8 3C Convertible by Carrozzeria Touring Chassis 8261341104 One of approximately 180 examples built over a two year production run, this Flaminia 2.8 3C Convertible was completed in December 1963 in Argento Auteuil over red leather. The car remained unsold until April 1968, when it was delivered to its first owner and registered in Turin, Italy. It later relocated to France, where it was repainted and the interior retrimmed in 1991. The original owner kept the car through 2008, after which it was sold at Rétromobile in 2009 and imported to the United States in 2010. Since its acquisition by the current owner in April 2023, the car has received more than $52,000 in mechanical and cosmetic work. It is offered with its Lancia Classiche Certificato di Origine, instruction book, shop manual, service records, spare parts, and a California title. Coachwork The aluminum body was designed, formed, and fitted in Milan by Carrozzeria Touring using its Superleggera method, in which a hand formed aluminum skin is wrapped over a lightweight steel framework. Originally finished in Argento Auteuil, the car was repainted in 1991 in France. Under current ownership, the paint has been touched up and repaired, and a new black convertible top has been installed. Exterior details include quad headlights with amber bulbs, a hood scoop, a driver's side mirror, and wraparound bumpers. Chassis and Brakes Suspension consists of independent double wishbones up front and a de Dion rear axle, along with an anti roll bar and upgraded shocks. Braking is by four wheel discs with inboard rear units; the master cylinder, booster, and all four calipers have been rebuilt under current ownership. The car rides on silver 400mm steel wheels with polished trim rings and Lancia hubcaps, fitted with Michelin X tires in 2024. Interior The bucket seats were previously reupholstered in Pony Red leather and received new foam and select redyeing in July 2023. Matching red trim covers the kick panels, door panels, side panels, rear bulkhead, and top boot. A black padded top sits atop the body colored dashboard, complemented by quarter vent windows, three point seatbelts, and gray carpeting. Instrumentation and Mileage A wood rimmed steering wheel frames Jaeger instruments, including a tachometer with inset clock and a 220 km/h speedometer with integrated auxiliary gauges. The gauges have been rebuilt, the horn repaired, and the fuel and coolant level senders replaced. The five digit odometer was reset circa 2010 at approximately 15,000 km (about 9,000 miles) and currently shows roughly 7,000 km (about 5,000 miles) since. The California title carries a Not Actual Mileage notation. Engine The all alloy 2.8 liter V6 was factory rated at 146 horsepower and breathes through triple Weber downdraft carburetors, rebuilt in the late 2000s. It features an external oil cooler, an aftermarket fuel pump, and an electronic distributor. The choke lever has been repaired and the fuel filler neck resealed under current ownership. Drivetrain Power reaches the rear wheels through a rear mounted four speed manual transaxle, with a dual exhaust system. The clutch assembly and linkage were replaced in April 2024, and the driveline was balanced in December 2024. Documentation The Lancia Classiche Certificato di Origine confirms a build date of December 18, 1963, and is accompanied by the original Lancia invoice dated April 8, 1968.
